Reedsport Fishing Guide
Reedsport fishing is a great way to spend a day on the Umpqua River or the Pacific Ocean. The Reedsport fishing options include Coho Salmon, Chinook Salmon, Pink Fin Perch and crabbing for both Dungeness and Red Rock crab. Beginning in 1852, Reedsport was a camp for railroad construction workers. It wasn’t until 1912, when the post office was established, that Reedsport officially became a city. As the timber industry collapsed late in the 20th century, the population of Reedsport dwindled. However, it has now become a place to visit on the Oregon coast. One of the biggest tourism draws today remains the close proximity to both the Oregon coast and the Umpqua river. With access to both of these bodies of water, Reedsport fishing ranks as one of Oregon’s best fishing trips.
REEDSPORT AREA FISHING
Coho Silver Salmon
$150/Half Day, $200/Full Day
Silver Salmon or Coho Salmon – fishing for either can be really exhilarating - just hang on and reel! Silvers, some in excess of 20 pounds enter the river on their annual migration which can number in the hundreds of thousands. These hard fighting acrobatic fish make for great table fare, averaging 10 to 12 pounds. During our Fall Silver Salmon Season, that can last right on through the the end of December, it is not at all uncommon to catch fish in the high teens to mid twenties on a daily basis.
Oregon Coast Crabbing
$150/Half Day, $200/Full Day
Nothing is quite as fulfilling as Oregon Coast Crabbing. While crabbing from the dock is possible, the amount of crab that you can get is much higher from a boat. Crabbing on the Oregon coast is easy, but knowing which crabs are legal to keep and which have the best meat is something that takes the knowledge and experience that Captain Jack has. Make the best of your Oregon shellfish license by taking a crabbing trip with Angling Adventures.
Fall Chinook Salmon
$150/Half Day, $200/Full Day
We have two salmon seasons in Oregon, the spring run, and the fall run. The Fall Salmon run begins in Mid August but is very reliable in September and October. I fish the Fall run in the tidal portion of the Siuslaw River, near the coastal town of Florence and on the Umpqua River near Reedsport. These fish are still in tidewater and are as fresh as they will ever be. This fishery holds up through September thru October being peak times.
