Winchester Bay Fishing Guide
Winchester Bay fishing is a great way to spend a day on the Umpqua River or the Pacific Ocean. The Reedsport charter options include Coho Salmon, Chinook Salmon, Pink Fin Perch and crabbing for both Dungeness and Red Rock crab. Winchester Bay is a wonderful spot to visit on the Oregon Coast. For a small town with a population of less than 500, there is plenty to do. One of the most popular tourism attractions of Winchester Bay is the sand dunes. People come from all around to drive their recreational vehicles on the sprawling sand. Of course, Winchester Bay fishing is a big draw, but more than that, Winchester Bay is known for its crabbing. So much so, that the local merchant association has dubbed Winchester Bay as the "Crab Capital of the World." Reedsport is just down the road and offers addition amenities.
Jack Duncan has been an Oregon Coast fishing guide in the Pacific Northwest over 30 years, and has fished the rivers of his Southern Oregon home since the 1970s. Leave the tough work to Jacks. He makes it his business to be on top of fishing regulations and reports. He’s done professional charters from Alaska to Costa Rica and has fantastic stories of catching everything from sailfish to massive Alaskan halibut. No need for a map, he's one of the top Winchester Bay fishing guides in the area.
WINCHESTER BAY AREA FISHING
Coho Silver Salmon
$150/Half Day, $200/Full Day
Silver Salmon or Coho Salmon – fishing for either can be really exhilarating - just hang on and reel! Silvers, some in excess of 20 pounds enter the river on their annual migration which can number in the hundreds of thousands. These hard fighting acrobatic fish make for great table fare, averaging 10 to 12 pounds. During our Fall Silver Salmon Season, that can last right on through the the end of December, it is not at all uncommon to catch fish in the high teens to mid twenties on a daily basis.
Oregon Coast Crabbing
$150/Half Day, $200/Full Day
Nothing is quite as fulfilling as Oregon Coast Crabbing. While crabbing from the dock is possible, the amount of crab that you can get is much higher from a boat. Crabbing on the Oregon coast is easy, but knowing which crabs are legal to keep and which have the best meat is something that takes the knowledge and experience that Captain Jack has. Make the best of your Oregon shellfish license by taking a crabbing trip with Angling Adventures.
Fall Chinook Salmon
$150/Half Day, $200/Full Day
We have two salmon seasons in Oregon, the spring run, and the fall run. The Fall Salmon run begins in Mid August but is very reliable in September and October. I fish the Fall run in the tidal portion of the Siuslaw River, near the coastal town of Florence and on the Umpqua River near Reedsport. These fish are still in tidewater and are as fresh as they will ever be. This fishery holds up through September thru October being peak times.
